WorkSafe Victoria has today announced the panel of Agents to manage its premium and claims from 1 July 2011.
WorkSafe Victoria's Chief Executive, Greg Tweedly, said today's announcement follows a comprehensive expression-of-interest and tender process which began in July last year.
The new agency agreement will be part of a package aimed at further improving services to Victorian employers & injured workers while ensuring scheme viability.
The panel comprises:
- Allianz Australia Workers' Compensation (Victoria) Limited (Allianz)
- Cambridge Integrated Services Victoria Pty Ltd trading as Xchanging (Xchanging)
- CGU Workers Compensation (Vic) Limited (CGU)
- Gallagher Bassett Services Workers Compensation Vic Pty Ltd (GBS)
- QBE Workers Compensation (Vic) Limited (QBE)
Mr Tweedly thanked GIO Workers' Compensation (Victoria) Limited for their work as an agent with the scheme over the past five years.
The current agents' contracts expire at 4pm on 30 June. The current agent panel - Allianz, CGU, GBS, GIO, QBE, and Xchanging - will deliver services to injured workers and employers until then.
WorkSafe and its agents are closely managing the transition to the new agent panel to ensure continuity of service and minimal disruption for employers and workers.
Employers and injured workers using GIO for WorkSafe injury insurance and claims management will be moved to Gallagher Bassett Services.
Agents manage WorkSafe Injury Insurance policies and workers' compensation claims & provide guidance to employers and injured workers, including how to achieve a safe return to work.
The tender process included an opportunity for organisations not currently on WorkSafe's agent panel to apply. It concluded after a robust evaluation process consistent with Victorian Government guidelines.
More than 204,000 employers contribute to Victoria's workplace injury insurance system.
Victoria has Australia’s second lowest workers' compensation premium rates (1.338% of remuneration. The all-state average in 2009-10 was 1.796%).
