Worker dies following power station incident

A man in his mid-50s has died in hospital following an incident at the Yallourn Power Station on Monday afternoon.

It is believed the man was working on a high voltage circuit breaker, when it exploded about 3.50pm, causing serious burns.

He was airlifted to hospital where he died this afternoon.

WorkSafe is investigating.

The incident brings the number of workplace fatalities for the year to 22, which is the same as at this time last year.
